This page explains how users of Find Your Hangout can request deletion of some or all personal data without deleting their account. Use this if you want more control over your data but still want to use the app.
How to request data deletion
- Email privacy.findyourhangout@gmail.com with subject Find Your Hangout data deletion request.

Tell us which data you want removed. Examples:
- Profile photo, bio, or mood
- Saved location / map presence history
- Phone findability / contact matching hash
- Specific hangout plans you created
- Chat history where you are a participant
- Notifications, ratings, or venue reviews you submitted
- “All personal data that can be removed while keeping my account”
- Include your account email (or Google Sign-In email) and @handle so we can verify the request.
- We will confirm what we can delete and complete the request usually within 7 days (backups up to 30 days).
What you can often delete yourself in the app
- Edit or clear profile fields (name, bio, mood, photo) in Me → Edit profile
- Turn off Available / location sharing on Find
- Turn off phone findability under Settings → Find friends from contacts
- Leave or cancel plans you control, unfollow people, unblock/block as needed
- Revoke device permissions (location, contacts, notifications) in system settings
Data that is deleted when we fulfill a request
We delete or anonymize the categories you specify, where technically and legally possible, such as profile extras, location fields, contact hashes, selected content you created, and notification history.
Data that may be kept
- Core account identifiers needed to keep your account working (auth uid, login email / Google link, handle) unless you also request full account deletion.
- Shared content that other users still rely on (e.g. a hangout they host) may remain with your contribution removed or anonymized.
- Security logs / backups: up to 90 days (logs) and 30 days (backups), then purged or overwritten.
- Data retained only when required by law or an active safety / fraud investigation.
